Two suspected kidnappers killed in Akwa Ibom during shootout with the police, six robbers paraded

Yesterday, the Akwa Ibom State Police killed two men out of a three-man gang of suspected kidnappers during a shootout in Idu Uruan, PUNCH reports.
The men reportedly kidnapped 74-year-old Grace Bassey and suffocated her while she was still in their custody. They fled the scene but were accosted by men of the anti-robbery squad who had trailed them to the hideout. A gun battle ensued, resulting in the death of two men.

Some of the weapons recovered from the gang include two locally-made pistols, five live cartridges, and a Toyota Corolla which has no registration number.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Cordelia Nwawe, confirmed that the command is still conducting ‘full scale’ investigation.
Also, six male robbery suspects were paraded at the police headquarters, and they are identified as Ubon Charles, Isong Udoh, Israel Akpe, Ofonmbuk Sunday, Ekom Udoudo, and Freedom Michael, while three suspected kidnappers were arrested for stealing a three-week old baby.
