Last week, President Barack Obama appointed Nigerian-American Adewale “Wally” Adeyemo as his Deputy National Security Adviser. He has now appointed another Nigerian, Bukola Oriola, as a new member of the United States Advisory Council on Human Trafficking.
The graduate of the Polytechnic Ibadan in Oyo State worked as a reporter and researcher for Century Media Limited in Lagos from 2003- 2005, before writing her first book, “Imprisoned: The Travails of a Trafficked Victim” in 2009. Oriola also produced the Imprisoned Show.
Confirming her appointment alongside others, President Obama said: “I am honored that these talented individuals have decided to serve our country. They bring experience and expertise to this Administration, and I look forward to working with them.”
