Obama appoints Bukola Love Oriola as member of US Advisory Council on Human Trafficking

Last week, President Barack Obama appointed Nigerian-American Adewale “Wally” Adeyemo as his Deputy National Security Adviser. He has now appointed another Nigerian, Bukola Oriola, as a new member of the United States Advisory Council on Human Trafficking.

Since 2009, Oriola, who founded the NGO The Enitan Story in 2013, has served as an independent consultant, speaker and author on human trafficking issues. Her NGO advocates for survivors of human trafficking and domestic abuse.
The graduate of the Polytechnic Ibadan in Oyo State worked as a reporter and researcher for Century Media Limited in Lagos from 2003- 2005, before writing her first book, “Imprisoned: The Travails of a Trafficked Victim” in 2009. Oriola also produced the Imprisoned Show.
Confirming her appointment alongside others, President Obama said: “I am honored that these talented individuals have decided to serve our country. They bring experience and expertise to this Administration, and I look forward to working with them.”
