Cocaine with an estimated street value of £500m has been recovered from a North Sea tug in what is believed to be the biggest single class A drug seizure in the UK.
The Tanzanian-registered Hamal was intercepted 100 miles east of Aberdeen on 23 April in an operation involving the National Crime Agency, Border Force and the Royal Navy frigate HMS Somerset.
Around three tonnes of cocaine was found on the vessel following a search in Aberdeen harbour.
The nine-man crew have appeared in court charged with drug trafficking offences.
