Januzaj to return to Manchester United after Borussia Dortmund terminate loan deal

The 20-year-old has played only 160 minutes in the Bundesliga this season and will now return to Louis van Gaal's side for the remainder of the campaignJanuzaj to return to Manchester United after Borussia Dortmund terminate loan deal

Adnan Januzaj is set to return to Manchester United after Borussia Dortmund agreed to terminate his season-long loan.

The 20-year-old joined Dortmund on a temporary deal at the end of August but has made only 12 appearances for the club, including just 160 minutes in the Bundesliga.

United have been unhappy with Januzaj’s lack of playing time and have now moved to bring him back to Old Trafford, which should be finalised within the next 24 hours.

The request comes as Louis van Gaal looks to bolster his attacking options in the January transfer window. Goal also understands that Felipe Anderson remains a priority target, although the £35 million deal has been stalled as the Brazilian is involved in a dispute with Lazio over his bonuses.

Dortmund begin their warm-weather training camp in Dubai on Thursday but could not confirm that Januzaj had been included in the travelling squad.

At the end of November, Van Gaal revealed that he had warned Januzaj about the risks involved with a move to Dortmund.

“I said in advance that’s a big risk, because you have to compete with other players of a higher level and that’s not so easy,” said the Dutchman.
