Imitation or Inspiration? Solange Knowles in Rosie Assoulin and Toke Makinwa in WanniFuga

WanniFuga is the fast rising womenswear label that has garnered interest from A-list celebrities and socialites alike. The label, which debuted its Holiday 2016 collection on the last day of 2015 and also revealed the stylish on-air-personality Toke Makinwa as the face of its seasonal offering, appeared on my ‘Imitation or Inspiration’ radar because one of the pieces looks like a certain Fall 2015 piece by international designer, Rosie Assoulin.

Wanni opted for a different color and type of fabric and buttons (crepe satin, rather than taffeta), dropping the neckline while maintaining the design aesthetic down to the little button details by the side of the pants.
