23-year-old unidentified woman beheaded in IDP camp in Borno

The decapitated body of an internally displaced person has been found in one of the camps in Borno state.

The victim, a 23-year-old woman, was found dead early Thursday morning by other

residents of the IDP camp in Maiduguri, capital of Borno state.

Neither the circumstances surrounding the death have not been fully established, nor has any group claimed responsibility for the incident. There are however suggestions that Boko Haram may have been behind the attack.

Boko Haram on Thursday released a video of some members of the sect beheading a woman, an act which bears similarity with actions of the Islamic State (ISIS) to which Boko Haram pledged allegiance early 2015.

A number of terrorist groups around the world have also carried out beheading of their victims and shared videos of same as part of propaganda campaigns.
