2016 Grammy Nominations: Kendrick Lamar in the lead, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd follow

Earlier today, the nominations for the 2016 Grammy Awards were announced, giving fans a taste of what to expect on one of music’s biggest night.

So far, rapper Kendrick Lamar leads the pack with 11 nods, while The Weeknd has the chance to walk away with seven trophies. Taylor Swift also nabbed seven nominations, including album of the year for 1989 and song of the year for “Blank Space.”
British singer Adele didn’t make the list because according to Grammy.com, the window for the 2016 awards is from October 1, 2014 until September 30, 2015 and Adele missed it by releasing her chart-topping album 25 on November 21.

The show airs on CBS on Feb. 15, 2016 and will take place at the Staples center in Los Angeles.
