2 Syrians Arrested in Geneva on Terror Charges

Two people carrying Syrian passports were arrested in Geneva on terror charges Friday, said the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland, following Switzerland's decision Thursday to raise the terror threat level in Geneva.
Neither suspect was linked to the four possibly Paris-related suspects Swiss authorities were looking for in the area earlier this week, the prosecutor general said.
The Syrians were arrested for "suspicion of manufacture, concealment and transport of explosives and toxic gases," as well as on suspicion of supporting groups such as al Qaida,ISIS and similar organizations, the Office of the Attorney General said.
Geneva Prosecutor General Olivier Jornot said in a press conference today that traces of explosives were found in the suspects' car, but it appeared that the suspects did not have explosives themselves, or toxic gas or traces of toxic gas.
Geneva is home to 23 international organizations, including many involved in Syria, like theUnited Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the International Organization for Migration.
