President Muhammadu Buhari arrived in Tehran, Iran ahead of the 3rd Gas Exporting Countries’ Forum (GECF) slated for Monday, November 23.
The president arrived at the Mehrabad International Airport around 7.15 p.m. local time (4.44 p.m. Nigerian time).and was received by the Iranian deputy president, Mr Shariat Madri.
Also waiting to receive the president were Dr Ali Magashi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Mr Ibe Kachikwu and the National Security Adviser, Retired Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno..
According to Mallam Garba Shehu, President Buhari and the leaders of Iran, Russia, Qatar, the Netherlands, Venezuela, Oman, Algeria, the United Arab Emirates, Bolivia and other member-countries of the GECF are expected to review the current market outlook on gas and discuss strategies for boosting gas production during their meeting in Tehran.
