BUSTED: NYSC uncovers seven workers with fake certificates

The National Youth Service Corps has discovered seven persons who have been working with fake NYSC Certificate of Exemption and Exclusion.

Three out of the suspects who are currently using the certificates to work in some banks are said to be on the run.
But the remaining four suspects with fake NYSC Certificate of Exemption and Exclusion had been handed over to security agencies for prosecution.
The suspects are Olatunbosun Abolarin, Yusuf Adekunle, Akan Macaulay and B. Abdullahi.
The suspects were said to have confessed that they paid between N25,000, and N60,000 to get the fake certificates.
The NYSC Director of Certification, Alhaji Hudu Aliyu Taura, stated this on Sunday in Abuja.
According to him, the arrest was made possible through the cooperation of their employers, who requested the NYSC to verify their certificates.
Taura said that 17 certificates were found out to be fake during the verification carried out by the NYSC, adding that the remaining 10 people and those on the run would soon be arrested.
He said, “Some employers came to verify those certificates; specifically Guarantee Trust Bank sent certificates to be verified by us and in the course of that, we found 17 out of what they sent were fake. So, we invited them to come with the original of their certificates.
“Only seven came and we took their statements. We verified the certificates and discovered that they were fake as they were not issued by the NYSC. They confessed to have got them from other sources and they have stated the amount they paid to get the certificates. So, with their written statements, we will hand them over to security agents for further necessary action.”
