Amosun approves N117m bursary for Ogun student‎s

Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun, on Sunday, approved N117.2 million as bursary allowances for Ogun students studying in various institutions for the 2014/2015 academic year.
The Commissioner for Education, Segun Odubela, disclosed this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria on Sunday in Abeokuta.
The commissioner said the amount would be paid to 14,550 beneficiaries.
A breakdown of the expenditure showed that 4,948 final year students, 9,506 from the other levels and 96 law school students would benefit from the award..
Odubela said that the bursary would be paid directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries, advising them to visit their banks for collection.
He said his administration was committed to the welfare of Ogun students , in line with his policy on “Affordable Qualitative Education” and assured of its continuity.
The commissioner, while urging the students to reciprocate government’s gesture by being law abiding, advised them to avoid being used by politicians for anti-social activities.
He added that “in the midst of the current financial challenges occasioned by dwindling allocation from the Federal Government, the state government will not relent in its determination to provide affordable and quality education.”
