Officials of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ahoada East Local Government in Rivers state on Tuesday, December 1, refused to start clearance for corps members until they weeded a portion of grass given to them.
Over time some Nigerians have seen the compulsory one year scheme as a harsh treatment to the youths all in the name of national service.
When asked about their one year experience some say they are subjected to cruel punishments in payment for their stubbornness.

Meanwhile, Brigadier-General Johnson Olawumi, the director-general of NYSC, has insisted that the ban on the use of the hijab by female corps members will not be overturned for security reasons.
The director general stated this while he received a group of Muslim youths under the aegis of Muslim Youths in Da’wah on Tuesday, November 24 at the headquarters of NYSC in Abuja.
