You’ve made history, Okorocha tells Jonathan

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has praised President Goodluck Jonathan for exhibiting a high level of maturity by conceding defeat and congratulating Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, the APC Presidential Candidate who won last Saturday’s presidential election.
Okorocha said Jonathan’s gesture clearly showed that the future of Nigeria’s democracy is very bright, in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Sam Onwuemeodo, and made available to our correspondent on Monday.
The governor, who is also and the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Governors’ Forum, said Jonathan had made history by being the first incumbent Nigerian President to concede victory to his major opponent in an election without betraying any negative emotion.
However, he urged the President to be mindful of the antics of some PDP bigwigs around him and not to allow himself to be forced or coerced into taking any action that would diminish this positive image in the eyes of Nigerians and the international community.
“You know some of these PDP people love power more than they love this country. They would stop at nothing to pursue power. They have already come up with certain plans or options, including a court action, for the President to take. It is my candid advice that he should not listen to them and only allow himself to be guided by his conscience,” he said.
