6 Afghan Children Killed As Refugees’ Boat Capsizes In Aeagean Sea

No fewer than six Afghan children, including a six-month-old baby, died after a boat carrying refugees capsized early Tuesday in the Aegean Sea off the coast of Turkey.

Two refugees were missing while five were rescued, including a 12-year-old boy, a report said.
In a similar development, the body of a five-year-old Syrian girl washed up on the coastline of Cesme, a city just off the Greek island of Chios.
Syrian and Afghan refugees trying to flee to Europe often use Turkey as a gateway to Greece, which is a member of the EU.
The plight of refugees taking dangerous boat journeys to the EU became the focus of international attention this summer, when a photo of a dead three-year-old refugee was widely circulated.
